Do your parents make you say yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am?

I hate that my parents are so strict. They make me say yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, and no ma'am to them when I answer a question. They make me use sir and ma'm with all adults. Most of my friends do not have to answer their parents this way and only a few do. The ones whos parents don't require they use sir and ma'am try to give me a hard time about it. My parents won't budge at all on this topic. The last time I argued with my dad on this topic, he grounded me and forced me to get a short military haircut. I don't understand why I can't just say yeah or yes. Does anyone else have parents who are like this?

My parents require that I answer them and all adults using sir and ma'am at all times
My parents require that I answer them using sir and ma'am only when I am in trouble or are getting repremanded
My parents require that I answer them using yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am, but it is ok if I don't use sir and ma'am with other adults.
My parents do not ever require that I say yes sir, no sir, or yes ma'am, no ma'am.
My parents required that I say yes sir no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am when I was younger, but they stopped making me do this when I got older.
