I'd say less than 98% but still a great deal and yes, within my lifetime.
It does not matter to me either way, survive or not people die everyday. The scale of the thing is incidental. Some other form of life will find a way or we'll bounce back with that 2% and that's good enough for me.
I believe in reincarnation. Humans are just a form of life. Even if the whole universe were obliterated, life essence is indestructible.
