Taking A Temperature

When I was very young (about 4) I had to go to hospital for an operation. Although the op was on my neck, I had to go to the doctor in the hospital for a full examination. I heard the nurse who was present say that she was going to take my temperature. I'd only had my temp taken under my arm or between my legs before and I thought the nurse was going to put the thermometer under my scrotum (I was fully naked). Instead I was laid face down on the couch and I felt the nurse gently put her fingers between my buttocks. It felt as if the thermometer was going a really long way up my bottom, but in actual fact I don't think that's the normal way to take it. I think the nurse may have been putting her finger in. Either way it was my first - and only - rectal temperature.
